Three homes in Metro Louisville’s District 15 are a little safer this holiday season thanks to a Crime Prevention Project which has partnered private business with Louisville Metro Police’s Fourth Division.

On Friday, the three homes were fitted with better security at no cost to the homeowners.

“I want to thank the partners of this project for stepping forward to help us keep the district safe,” says Councilwoman Marianne Butler (D-15). “This shows our community is working together for the common good.”

CARE Security and Monitoring and Cook’s Locksmith Services are working with the Fourth Division to install a new security system at one home and dead bolt locks on the two other homes.

“I’m proud to be a part of this great cause in Metro Louisville and work with everyone to make Louisville a safer place to call home,” says Dakota Cook , owner of Cook’s Locksmith Services.

“CARE Security Services is thrilled to once again be able to donate a Security System to help make our Community a safer place to live,” says Chris Harr of CARE.

This Crime Prevention Project is coordinated by Marianna Perry, who has a law enforcement background and teaches Criminal Justice at Sullivan University. In 2010, she coordinated volunteers for a similar effort in the LMPD’s Second Division.

Perry worked with the Fourth Division’s Resource Officers Dean Sturgeon and Johnny Burgraff for this year. The program selected homes on Hathaway Avenue, Whitney Avenue and Camden Avenue for this year.

Crime is a concern all year long for all of Metro Louisville,” says Butler. “Holiday time many people are particularly vulnerable and this project serves as a reminder that we need to check on our safety precautions and those of our neighbors.”
